Taylor & Francis media centre partnerships places Australian and New Zealand research in the spotlight

Taylor & Francis

Taylor & Francis have announced new partnerships with the Australian Science Media Centre (AusSMC) and the Media Centre for Education Research Australia (MCERA).

The media centres offer independent, non-profit services for the news media which encourage quality research-based reporting. They offer expert advice and commentary which improves the accuracy of media reports and public understanding of academic research. The sponsorship from Taylor and Francis supports this important and influential work.

Taylor & Francis will work with the media centres to ensure that Australian and New Zealand research published in Taylor & Francis journals is accurately and responsibly communicated to the press to enable good quality news coverage which informs public debate.

“Working with leading scientific journal publishers like Taylor and Francis helps us ensure the media has timely access to quality peer reviewed science”, says Lyndal Byford, Acting CEO of the Australian Science Media Centre. “In this post truth era, providing journalists with trusted quality science content is vital to having informed public debates on issues that impact us all.”

“Education policy will play a crucial role in determining Australia’s future, so it’s essential that journalists and the public have access to the best available research,” says Shannon Schedlich, CEO of the Media Centre for Education Research. “Partnership with outstanding publishers like Taylor & Francis helps us to provide this access, and to ensure that public discourse is informed by evidence.”

Sarah Blatchford, ANZ Regional Director for Taylor & Francis Journals, comments “These new media partnerships underline our commitment to high quality media communication, making sure that Taylor & Francis research continues to make a significant contribution to public debate on major topics across science and education. We are delighted to be working closely with MCERA and AusSMC towards this shared goal.”
