TWS Wildlife Publication Awards Winners
TWS Award Winners Urban Wildlife Management – Authored book category and Ecology and Conservation of Lesser Prairie-Chickens - Edited book category
In Cleveland, Ohio, The Wildlife Society celebrated its 25th Annual Conference landmark with members travelling from across North America gathering to celebrate.
The Wildlife Society wasn’t the only one celebrating over the five-day event taking place from the 7th to 11th of October 2018: CRC Press was celebrating too, with two titles recognized in the “Authored Books” and “Edited Books” categories for the TWS Wildlife Publication Awards.
Urban Wildlife Management, Third Edition, written by Clark E. Adams, won the award for the best authored book. Clark’s first edition had been previously nominated for this award and the third edition is a Choice Outstanding Academic Title. The award win made a poignant mark for the day as the author received this honor posthumously.
CRC Press Editor Randy Brehm shared a fond memory of working with Clark through his time publishing with us: “The first edition of the book Urban Wildlife Management was very special to me as it launched my career path to becoming an Editor. I was blessed at the opportunity to work with him on the editions that followed, and I know Clark would have said to me ‘Well, Randy, looks like you and me finally did it!’ with the wonderful smile and enthusiasm he shared daily.”
In the “Edited Books” category, editors David A. Haukos and Clint W. Boal were also celebrating recognition for their winning title, Ecology and Conservation of Lesser Prairie-Chickens. This book is a volume of the highly renowned series Studies in Avian Biology, in collaboration with the American Ornithological Society. Another volume from the Studies in Avian Biology series, Golden-winged Warbler Ecology, won the TWS Publication Award for an Edited Book in 2017.
The win for CRC Press at the prestigious and highly competitive awards saw authors’ success of 40 nominated titles from 17 publishers that were reviewed by the committee members. The award wins recognize excellence in scientific writing characterized by originality of research or thought and a high scholastic standard in the manner of presentation.
The two CRC Press titles that won in each category are:
Authored Book
Urban Wildlife Management, Third Edition by Clark E. Adams
Edited Book
