Alex Robinson has been appointed Chief Commercial Officer for Taylor & Francis, effective 8 August 2022. Alex will report to CEO Annie Callanan and will be a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).

Alex brings a wealth of experience as a leader in academic publishing. He has successfully led diverse sales and marketing teams across multiple offices in Europe, South Asia, APAC, and the USA through periods of significant change. In his most recent role, he led the commercial strategy for the UK & EMENA at Taylor & Francis, a position held from September 2020. During the challenges of the past two years, Alex delivered record growth across all revenue streams in the region.

Prior to his regional commercial role, Alex served as a Marketing and Business Development Leader in the Advanced Learning Division at Taylor & Francis. He originally joined the company in 2008 as a Global Marketing Manager.

Christoph Chesher, the current Chief Commercial Officer, will remain in role to ensure a smooth handover process. On 8 August 2022 he takes up the part-time position of Executive Director for Taylor & Francis reporting to the CEO and working on several specific projects.

“Alex will now lead our 300+ strong Commercial function in a fast-moving, ever-changing and increasingly dynamic market landscape, and I am very much looking forward to working with him on our goals – especially in the Open Research area,” said Annie Callanan.

“Christoph will be a hard act to follow,” said Alex Robinson, “but by continuing with our focus on working closely with key partners and customers we will continue to deliver value, choice, and impact for researchers, readers, funders, and learners of every kind, in increasingly diverse markets. I am looking forward enormously to building on the great strides Taylor & Francis has already made in these areas.”
