Journal Closure Announcement: Journal of Library Resource Sharing

After careful consideration, we announce that the Journal of Library Resource Sharing will cease publishing new content following the completion of Volume 32 in 2025. This decision comes after several years of challenges in maintaining a steady flow of high-quality submissions, despite the dedicated efforts of the journal’s editorial team.

Since its inception, the journal has served as a valuable platform for advancing research and practice in library resource sharing. However, the decline in submissions has impacted the journal’s ability to sustain its publication schedule. While the journal was able to publish five separate issues annually until 2010, subsequent years saw issues being combined due to fewer accepted manuscripts. The post-pandemic period has brought an even sharper decline, with only two articles published so far for Volume 32, and a few additional submissions expected to complete the 2025 volume. Colleagues at Taylor & Francis have worked closely with the journal’s editorial team to try to mitigate this decline, but unfortunately the journal is no longer viable as a stand-alone title.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the current and former editors, the Editorial Board, guest editors, and peer reviewers who have worked tirelessly to uphold the journal’s standards and mission. Their dedication and expertise have been invaluable in ensuring the publication of meaningful research in this niche area.

Although the Journal of Library Resource Sharing will no longer continue, its legacy and the topics it has covered will find a home in other Taylor & Francis journals that address broader aspects of library and information science. These include the Journal of Access Services, Collection Management, New Review of Academic Librarianship, College & Undergraduate Libraries, and Journal of Electronic Resources Librarianship. These journals will continue to provide a platform for advancing research, policy, and practice in this vital and fast-evolving field.

We remain committed to supporting the library and information science community by strengthening our publishing program and fostering impactful contributions to the discipline.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the Journal of Library Resource Sharing over the years—your work has been instrumental in shaping the field and inspiring future research.
