Medical conference materials can now be shared digitally thanks to new Taylor & Francis innovation

Open Access conference material supplements

New service launched in Open Access Week

Taylor & Francis has developed a new digital solution – launching in Open Access Week – that will enable medical academic conference materials to reach beyond their physical or virtual audience.

The new publication option, ‘Open Access conference material supplements’, will allow Taylor & Francis customers to publish their conference materials – such as posters, presentations and Conference abstracts – digitally on www.tandfonline.com in the form of an Open Access supplement.

All material supplements will be peer-reviewed, permanent, and citable. The supplements help to record the full measure of research around a common thread, as presented at a workshop, congress, or conference, for the scientific record.

The service will be available on medical papers across 32 of its leading journals such as Current Medical Research and Opinion, Journal of Medical Economics and the Expert Review and Expert Opinion Collection.

Speaking about the launch of the new service, Todd Hummel, Taylor & Francis’ Global Publishing Director Medicine,  said: “As several medical conferences were forced to pivot last minute to a virtual platform due to COVID-19, the usual opportunities to share research in unique conference-specific formats were reduced.

“While sharing research in-person continues to be more difficult, we’re responding by enabling a new service with options to disseminate research data and conclusions quickly and efficiently.”
