The National Science Library of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Taylor & Francis have announced the formation of a new Advisory Committee to enhance the coherence, foresight and effectiveness of its Research Integrity Joint Laboratory (Joint Lab).
Established in December 2023, the Joint Lab is dedicated to addressing critical issues in research integrity and promoting trust in scholarly publishing, through strengthened governance systems and practice-driven research.
The new Advisory Committee brings together experts in research integrity studies, representatives from research authorities, researchers, and professionals from the scholarly publishing sector, reflecting a multi-stakeholder, collaborative governance approach.
The Advisory Committee will focus on key research integrity issues, including emerging risks in research and publishing, both in China and globally. Its work will support research and practical initiatives in areas such as institutional design, governance mechanisms, and implementation pathways. The Committee aims to develop consensus-based outcomes and practical guidelines to inform policy and guide best practices across the sector.
Additionally, the Committee will contribute to the development of international rules and standards, support the continued strengthening of governance capacity, and promote international exchange and cooperation in research integrity governance.
Jason Hu, Director of Research Integrity Engagement at Taylor & Francis, said: “Our recent survey of Chinese researchers found that understanding of and adherence to ethical practices require significant improvement. The Joint Lab therefore has a key role to play in supporting the Chinese academic community to prioritize integrity and trust in research and publishing. The new Advisory Committee brings together expertise from a range of specialisms to advance this important work. We’re grateful to all of the respected colleagues who have joined the Committee and look forward to partnering with them on this project.”
